Flash - “The Flash” has found Mama West. Variety has confirmed that “Candyman” and “Melrose Place” actress Vanessa Williams — not to be confused with the “Ugly Betty” and “Desperate Housewives” star of the same name — has been cast as Iris West’s (Candice Patton) mother Francine in season two of The CW drama.

After much speculation over the role Franz Drameh’s character, Jay Jackson, would play in The CW’s “Flash” and “Arrow” spinoff “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow,” a new promo released by The CW (which was subsequently taken down) implied that Drameh will appear at some point as the dominant form of Firestorm, a hero who was created by fusing together Dr. Martin Stein (Victor Garber) and Ronnie Raymond (Robbie Amell). Since Garber has been announced as a series regular for “Legends” and Amell has not, Ronnie’s fate remains a mystery that will undoubtedly be solved before the spinoff debuts at midseason. Lethal Weapon Warner Bros. TV and Fox in the US are teaming up to work on a Lethal Weapon series. Writer/producer Matt Miller is in charge of developing the new show, which has a pilot order from Fox. He’ll weave elements from the original series in with new twists – the show will follow the exploits of a former Navy SEAL and Texas police officer who moves to LA after the death of his wife and young child, and is paired with an LAPD detective who has to avoid stress at all costs because he has a heart conditionCognition John Woo, whose credits include “Mission Impossible II” and “Face/Off,” is to produce a original scripted television series titled “Cognition” The show is a neo-noir crime thriller covering two serial killer investigations set in two very stylistically contrasting worlds — the vast and desolate lands of America’s declining mid-West, and the thriving and overpopulated streets of the Far East. The series is centered around Travis Augustine, an American ex-detective who has travelled to the Far East for a cutting-edge, untested medical procedure to cure his cancer. The theory: trauma manifests itself into illness. The cure: delete the memories associated with the trauma. As Travis recounts the memories from a failed all-consuming 10-year serial killer investigation as part of his treatment, copycat crimes start to take place on the streets of an Asian metropolis, and Travis finds himself pulled back in to the vicious cycle he’s trying to escape.

NBC’s “Blindspot” and CBS’ “Limitless” are the new series with the greatest likelihood of continued ratings success, according to predictive data compiled by Peel, maker of the world’s leading smart remote app. The company today revealed its predictions for winners and losers from among this year’s crop of new shows based on tune-out data and other information from its 12 million monthly U.S. users.

On the other hand, topping the list of new shows most likely headed for a quick cancellation were ABC’s “Blood & Oil,” which had only 60% of viewers still tuned in after 15 minutes. It was followed by Fox’s “Minority Report” (62.9%), CBS’ “Life in Pieces” (63.3) and NBC’s “The Player” (65%).

The potential new series — hailing from Saw and Furious 7 director James Wan, the original show’s executive producer Henry Winkler and NCIS: LA‘s R. Scott Gemmill — follows twentysomething Angus MacGyver as he gets recruited into the clandestine organization from the old ABC drama. As he uses his knack for solving problems in unconventional ways to help prevent disasters, the remake will reveal how MacGyver acquired his famous skill sets. Damage Control

Originally published in 1989 the comic follows the power-free duties of the team who are tasked with cleaning up after super-suited types have finished doing battle or otherwise interacting: there are lost ray guns to return to rightful owners, weddings to re-schedule after the intended venue has been vaporised and even the odd parrot to be tracked down when it has been turned to stone. Given the crowded nature of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which has been known to crossover with the TV side of things, we can expect them to be busy.

Unlike S.H.I.E.L.D. and Carter or any of the Netflix shows, this is being designed as a half-hour comedy with Daily Show/Colbert veteran Ben Karlin and Parks And Recreation’s David Miner planning to bring the funny with what could be a nice little tie-in to S.H.I.E.L.D., which is already looking to spin of one show, Marvel’s Most Wanted, to focus on Adrianne Palicki’s Mockingbird and Nick Blood’s Lance Hunter. And that’s without getting into the still top-secret show being developed by John Ridley.
